John stood in the wilderness of the desert and called upon the Jewish nation to prepare themselves for the coming of the Lord. Many heard his pleas and did so, receiving baptism, symbolic of repentance.
The Lord is calling His covenant people to be prepared. His words are upon the tongues of His believers. The message is bubbling forth in text and finding voice anew.
