Three Parts to the Whole ~ Part Two

Be joyful always; pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Our prayers need not be verbal.
Words need not flow from our mouth.
Communion with the Lord can be silent.

Memorized scripture can serve as a prayer.
Mirroring His own words back to Him.
Doing so is honoring Him and His word.

Pray for others by name.
Pray when you see a person in need.
Pray for the leaders, the preachers, the teachers, the children.
Pray over your nation and your household.
Pray that the Lord will use you to do His will.
Pray that your life will have purpose and meaning.
Pray that you will be satisfied with his steadfast love.
Pray that others will know of His love.

Prayers are like music. They do not necessarily need lyrics. Sometimes, like a chorus, the words of our prayers reoccur. As the words to a particular song do not change, so the words of  prayer may not. Like a hymn, other prayers might be a song of praise lifted up to God. Prayer can be a petition for situations being faced by loved ones. In the Bible, the Lord taught the disciples His prayer. It is the pattern for all prayer.

Lord's Prayer:
Matthew 6: 9-13
"This, then, is how you should pray:
"'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' "

Your prayer is a communion with the Lord
