Jesus Did These Things For You and Me: 30

30 Jesus rode the burro
30. Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem at Passover. Luke 19:35

It was customary for the Jews to secure the lamb for Passover five days before the feast. It should have no blemish or defect and in order to access that, it was necessary for the lamb to be taken and housed for five days. It is no wonder, then, that Jesus too entered Jerusalem five days before He, Himself, would become the Passover Lamb, sacrificed for our sins.

His “Triumphal Entry” did not go unnoticed. The people of Israel loved Jesus! They spread garments along the road and cut palms to wave before Him.  Recognizing His Kingship, they cried Hosanna’s as they lined the dusty country road that delivered Him into the city of David. “Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”

These were the words of Tabernacles. These were the words that spoke of salvation. These were the words from the mouth of a people who anticipated a King. These were the words of a fickle nation.

As the Passion Week unfolds, remember Jesus as the journey to the cross unfolds. Think on His willingness to deliver Himself into the hands of those who would stretch, pierce, and mock Him. Think of the Christ who did this for

you and for me.
