Open My Eyes with Scripture regarding enlightenment

As Lottie and the friends stand on the seashore, they reflect upon their individual visions for spreading God’s word. Corderito sums things up for them when he states that, “our hearts are being moved to follow the great commission.” As the day of the big Tent Meeting Revival nears, Lottie has a dream where animals from all of the nations on earth ride in on the waves.

Essentially, what she sees is an ingathering of nations. In her dream, people appear as animals. Those animals represent the nations, tribes, and tongues spoken of in the Book of Revelation. The ingathering is reminiscent of worshipers traveling to Jerusalem during the Feasts of The LORD as described in Deuteronomy 16:16.

Habakkuk 2:14 reads, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of THE LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” In order to acquire the knowledge, one must hear the word of The LORD spoken. Jesus commanded his disciples in Mark 16: 15 “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

The hearts with eyes that Lottie sees in her vision picture the message in Ephesians 1:18 to have “the eyes of your understanding be enlightened.” The candles they carry are a reminder of Jesus’ words, “Ye are a light of the world.” We have that light from Jesus who reveals in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever followeth me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Luke 11:34 connects the two with “the light of the body is the eye.”

As we hear and study of Jesus, our minds and eyes are opened. The

spiritual light inside our head and heart is turned on and we begin, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to understand God’s word. The more we know about Jesus, the more we know Jesus. That enlightenment that comes enables us to “see” God’s plan for our lives as well as His plans for His Kingdom here on earth.

Elisha prayed that The LORD would open the eyes of his servant in 2 Kings 6:17 saying, “I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” In the same manner, you will, as Matthew describes, “understand with their heart.” Luke writes, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see.”
